60 seconds with NCOTY finalist, Martin Carabott
It’s getting very exciting here at NCOTY HQ, especially when the live final is just over a week away. The finalists are all very busy ensuring they are ready for the big day and we caught up with finalist, Martin Carabott to see how his preparations are going.
You can watch Martin in action at The Restaurant Show on Tuesday 4th October. Register for your pass to be in the live audience here.
How did you feel when you saw the mystery basket list?
I was very happy to see this list at the NCOTY Mentor Day. There was a wide range of interesting ingredients which provide lots of opportunity for different ideas.
What are you most looking forward to about the final?
The final is always exciting and I’m really looking forward to receiving feedback about my cooking from such high profile chefs.
How will you be preparing for the final over the next few weeks?
I will be practising to try and perfect everything. It’s important to make sure I manage everything perfectly and on time.
Why did you decide to enter NCOTY?
I decided to enter as National Chef of the Year is one of the most important cooking competitions in the UK and I thought it would be great to see how well I can do in it.
What do you think the biggest challenge will be on the day?
The biggest challenge will be to keep my head straight during the two hours and focusing entirely on the task at hand.
The Craft Guild of Chefs would like to wish Martin all the best of luck with the competition.
